So, let me tell you about my day yesterday. I was still battling my head cold but, in the morning, it felt like it was starting to fade. After church, I stopped at the bank to drop off the offering money and then...my car wouldn't start. I went to call AAA and I realized my phone was sitting on my coffee table, not in my purse.
I walk, in unseasonably warm temperatures, about 2 miles--IN HEELS--home so that I can call AAA as well as my friend in Camas who was hosting the barbecue I was supposed to attend and my friend in the 'Couv who was hosting book club to let them know I wouldn't be making it. Then I waited for the tow guy to come and take me back to the car. He jumps my car and drives off. Once he leaves, my car starts sputtering and, during a frantic phone call to the guberif, my dad tells me it sounds like the alternator is gone and not to drive for 45 minutes like the tow guy said but to go straight home. I go directly home and the car dies as I'm parking it. Basically, it's sitting diagonally in the parking lot. I find a nice gentleman to come help me push it into a parking place and then I call dad again.
Alternators are expensive, to say the least, so I'm about to become very poor. Not good. Bad thing #1.
As I ponder this hiccup of fate, the pounding sinus headache comes back with a vengeance. I take a claratin and hope it goes away. It doesn't--the sinus infection is back, worse than ever. Bad thing #2.
What would bad thing #3 be? I was actually worrying about this last night. Yes, I am a bit superstitious, I can't help it. At 10pm, when Grey's Anatomy came on, I thought I was in the clear.
That was until 10:36 pm when my cable cut out and the DVR stopped working--just as Izzie of the strangely flattering scrubs was about to do something very, very bad. I missed the whole thing. Bad thing #3.
There are days that just don't go well and that was what happened yesterday. Today? Well, I went to the doctor and he put me on some antibiotics which seem to be working. George W. Bush--say what you want about him but at this moment he's one of my favorite people--gave a press conference or something that messed up ABC's schedule. So, the network postponed Oprah's Legend Ball (what is that, anyway?) and, on the west coast, with an hour to kill, they are airing last night's episode of Grey's Anatomy before the 2-hour 2nd part airs at 9pm.
As for the car? Well, we'll find out about that tomorrow. Bad things do come in 3's, but turnarounds may come in 3's as well. If not, 2 out of 3 ain't bad!

"2 out of 3 ain't bad". Sounds like a pearl of wisdom from the beloved singer, Meatloaf. Perhaps you should adapt that little ditty as your theme song to life.
