So, yesterday, 3 of my very, very good friends (only slightly tongue in cheek!) through me a bachelorette party. While it was supposed to be a surprise, circumstances arose that led the Good Doctor to fess up to her plans beforehand. So, what did we do?
Well, brunch at a gay bar. Excuse me, brunch at a DJ-ed gay bar. Although I have to wonder a bit about it...how many gay bar DJ's do not have a copy of "Dancing Queen"? I will say, it was one of the best brunches I've ever had, gay bar or not. They even had a self-service cornbread and toast station--I should take my Studmuffin there as he loves cornbread. However, I doubt he'll be too keen on the gay bar aspect of the place.
Then what...well, we all headed out for....are you ready for it?....STRIPPER LESSONS! Okay, maybe "exotic dancing" is more accurate as none of our clothes went flying across the room. But I was forced to wear some pretty frightening drag queen shoes (I think I was about 6' 3" in them).
I will say, though, it was fun. The 3-4 drinks I had before that may have made it a bit more fun, but what can you expect from a bachelorette party? I don't think I ever got the "sexy look" down as every time I tried, I burst out laughing (I'd like to blame that on the drinks as well).
The sad thing is, though, that I'm really sore today. Where am I sore? I guess it's a testament to the money I've put forth for personal training that my limbs and abs are fine. No, I've got sore knees. Actually, the backs of my knees are sore. Why? Well, apparently, one must wear knee pads when stripping and, while they do protect your knee caps, they are can cut off your circulation.
So, this leads me to wonder...if strippers need to wear knee pads, how exactly do they get them off during a routine? Seriously...getting those things off is not a graceful process? Oh well, I'm pretty sure that's something I won't ever figure out!

I'm sure someone is going to yell at me!
I have to confess something to the Green Turtle...true, I could just do it over email, but I'm hoping that someone will come to my defense when he gets mad at me over this...what can I say? I need the moral support.
So, I was supposed to go on my very first non-date letterboxing excursion this Saturday. If you don't know what letterboxing is, the short definition is that it is the religion of the Green Turtle. Okay, that's not really a definition--if you are interested, follow the link. Anyway, I my first major sin was that I had(GASP!) a manufactured stamp! You see, I'm not a "stamper" much less someone who would make my own stamp. However, I found a really cute cat stamp at Michael's (and, or course, orange ink...my little Carmel stamp!) and, since it's far better than I could ever make, I decided to use that. I'm sure that admission alone will send me straight to letterboxing hell.
Now, hopefully, the Green Turtle is so upset about THAT that he's not reading anymore. Because, you see, there has been a change of plans. I have a very bad habit of over-booking myself and I had to reshuffle my schedule and weigh some different obligations against each other and chose the best one. And, here it is...instead of going letterboxing, I will be getting a manicure and pedicure.
Please, my loyal readers, stand by me and let the Green Turtle that a girl sometimes just needs nice looking nails! And I promise that, someday, maybe once again on a date (although not on a first date), I will go letterboxing. Honest!
Green turtle...forgive me?????

Continuing the plugs!
Okay, since I oh so shamelessly started plugging my own blog last night and just mentioned those that I visit, I thought I owed it to all 9 or so of you to talk about my favorite blogs. So here we go:
Walking San Luis Obispo is one of Green Turtle's blogs. See the ads for Atlas Quest on the side? If there is a youngish brown haired guy, that would be the Green Turtle. Right now he is walking all the streets of his hometown, but he recently told me that he'll be thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in 2008. And, of course, he thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail a few years ago. He says he's writing a book about it...move over Bill Bryson!
And I Will Say it Again is his other blog. Mostly rants, but entertaining. And, of course, I can't help but to put in my two cents there!
Tofu Punk belongs to a friend of mine from high school. You have a Harry Potter question? She's the person to answer it. A word of warning, you may not want to read her blog at work. I once happened across two Barbie dolls having sex on her site. But, to her credit, I will say she is the only person I know who actually had a fight with her mother-in-law on her blog. Better than a soap opera!
Sarah's Blog belongs to a friend of mine from a mailing list. She's expecting her first child in a few weeks and, if you go into the archives, you can see the 3-D ultra sound pictures. Cool!
Mer's Blog belongs to another friend from the same mailing list. She is a true techy girl...she actually got me into instant messenging!
Evi's Blog belongs to the first total stranger to find this site. Woo-hoo! Three cheers for Evi! It's a fun blog there...and there is a link to another blog that hosts pictures of her kids.
The Rube has some great pictures! Really! I was blog surfing one day and came across them and became an addicted to his site. Strangely enough, we probably crossed paths a few years ago when he was a grad student at BU and I worked there....wacky!
Emily is a student at my alma mater, The College of William and Mary. She hasn't posted since February...I wish she'd post again.
Katlanta, on the other hand, graduated from W&M a few years before I did and now she's in grad school in Georgia. Right now, though, she's in Egypt. Cool. However, she doesn't know me--I came across her site on the alumni page and couldn't help but check it out.
The Elastic Waistband Lady is a blast! Hilarious site and she even sang to me on my site. Awwww.
Evel Squirrel is another great site. I think he and Elastic Waistband Lady are cut from the same cloth.
Ladybug is a gentle soul with a beautiful writing style. Sometimes I don't know what she's talking about, but it's pretty!
Losing Me is a weight watcher up in Canada who is brave enough to chronicle her WW journey. You go girl!
Moving North is the first of the Alaskan blogs I've found. Great fun to read...although I'm apparently supposed to send him beer?
Life with Dogs in the Yukon is, well, pretty self-explanatory. But it's fascinating to read!
Up in Alaska is, yep, another Alaska blog. I so want to go to Alaska.....
Ayumi Meegan is Tyler's (from TAR) girlfriend. Her site is far more interesting than his, though....
Julie Powell is the woman whose book inspired me to start this blog.
And there, ladies and gentlemen, are my current links. Enjoy! I'll introduce more as I add them!
