Observations on a train

I'm getting a new cell phone in December...my contract is up and my carrier wants to keep me so I'm supposed to get a good deal. I think I may have to get a camera phone. I have a camera--and I love photography--but there are just moments when you need a camera and it's not there.

I ran up to Powell's today at lunch to pick up a book and I found myself standing next to a culinary student on the train. Like all other culinary students, he was wearing the white shirt and checkered pants and then I noticed something. Instead of having a breast pocket, he had a pocket on his sleeve. And, in addition to the pocket guard, pens and pencil, there was a meat thermometer. For some reason, I found this oddly amusing. Go figure.

And now, your words of wisdom:
"Don't be reckless with people's hearts, don't put up with those reckless with yours."
-Mary Schmich
