THANK GOODNESS! I had planned a MiPL event out to the Wilson River Volkswalk today and, after a week of sun and record-high temperatures, the forecast called for rain. Over half the people who had signed up for the event baled out, but the 5 of us who were willing to brave the weather were treated to a gorgeous hike.
And, since I had my camera (and batteries) I took pictures. Unfortunately, my technology-challenged intellect is unable to figure out how to put more than one picture in a post, so you'll only get this wonderful pic of myself and my friend Joanne today. No worries, I'll be sure to put some of the other pictures in later posts.
While I was walking, I was thinking about my quest to break through the box. What do I want to do but have never done? Unfortunately, that list is quite long. But one thing did come to mind--I want to go camping. I know it's pathetic--I'm 32 years old and have never gone camping. I guess I just grew up in a indoorsy sort of family. I have friends that camp but, unfortunately, part of their camping experience is consuming life-endangering amounts of alcohol.
So, I need to find a plan. Right now I'm thinking that I should find someone to do this with me--preferably someone with all the gear so that I don't have to make a big financial outlay until I know I like it. Maybe I should go yurt camping...then I don't have to worry about pitching a tent! That's an idea...Oh, I might have a project!

You can rent a lot of camping gear you'd need if you want to avoid that big financial burden of buying it. =)
'yurt' camping? I'll have to google that one.
We love camping as a family even though we are also very much couch potatoes. We are the kind of campers that just plant ourselves at the campsite and roast marshmallows all day, or find a lake to 'plunch' around in all day!
Our favorite campground is called 'Redstreak' at Radium Hot Springs, close to Banff here in Canada, it's a 5 minute drive to the Hot Springs Pool facility so we can soak it up before bed and go in the morning again to soak our weary 'sleeping on crappy surfaces' bones, or we can choose to be more active and hike to the Springs if we choose.
